After Dinner Commander Wright introduced Department Commander Pat Hassey who presented the audience with a discussion on Boys' State. Commander Hassey outlined the entire week in Douglas Wyoming, and then discussed some of the Boys' State Staff including Senator Barasso, Senator Enzi, Governor Freudenthal, Lawyer Jerry Hand and others. Commander Hassey outlined his mission to improve attendance at Boys' State.
Jill Mueller and Sergeant Major John Strock representing the Assistant Secretary of the Army made its first Freedom Team Salute presentation to the Department of Wyoming. The objective of Freedom Team Salute is to introduce Army Veterans and present them with certificates for serving. This year veterans Pat McCreery, Charles Mankin, Mel Carver, and Jack Graham were presented with certificates. The audience applauded after each presentation
Sergeant Major John Strock discussed the Freedom Team Salute, then asked the audience to stand up if they were a member of the US Army, had a relative or friend in the Army, or had a friend in the Army. Paul Woessner, Member of the Veterans Day Parade Committee, discussed this year’s parade, which was dedicated to "Recipients of a Purple Heart." Mr. Woessner named ten recipients, and thanked all other Purple Heart recipients not named.
